A propos

The shinobue is a Japanese bamboo flute traditionally used in street music as well as in more refined artistic performances such as Kabuki theatre and classical Japanese dance.

Nozomi Kanda is a professional flutist and shinobue player. She graduated from the Royal Conservatory of Mons (Belgium) and holds a license from the Tōsha School of Traditional Japanese Music in Japan.

At our stand, you can try playing the shinobue yourself and enjoy musical demonstrations ranging from traditional folk melodies to popular Japanese songs.

This year, we are also featuring a special collaboration with a group of Awa Odori dancers.
Awa Odori is a lively and joyful traditional dance from Tokushima (Shikoku Island), performed during summer festivals across Japan. With its rhythmic music and dynamic movements, Awa Odori brings a festive spirit and invites everyone to join in the celebration!
